Not one of us is self-made. I am a life-long student of other people. So are you. When someone shares something profound that changes my life... I try to give credit where credit is due.Today, this credit goes to an exceptional and amazing lady, Jeanna Macey. She said something to me a few years ago and I have never forgotten it. At the time, my marriage was under stress, my finances in trouble, my relationship with my children not as strong as I wanted...just to name a few. Here is what she said:
"We are a product today of the CHOICES we make in life."
So often we make a series of poor choices because we step out in our own foolish (small-minded) wisdom, without taking time to seek out the Higher Wisdom available to us.
We already know that scripture emphatically compels us to seek His wisdom, knowledge and understanding. With ALL our getting, get it! But yet we act independent of these resources made available to us. Then, when we are reaping the fruit of our own poor choices, we sit on our little mound of self-pity and claim..."It's all in God's hands. We'll just have to wait and see what He does to fix this mess."
Well, my question today is this. If we are capable (God did not make us robots, we have free will) of making choices that can create an undesirable state of affairs...then aren't we capable of using these Higher Resources to make NEW choices that would reverse or redirect any situation?
None of us can change the direction of our past...BUT we CAN change the direction of our tomorrows...starting TODAY! Can we be honest? Can we say that much of our problem, is that the obvious choices we see means sacrificing our own pride?
I know it was mine. Making new choices really did hurt my pride badly...but today my marriage is stronger than ever, my finances are OUT of trouble, several of those broken relationships have been mended...thank you, Lady Macey, for speaking truth when I wanted sympathy.
Is it really all in God's hands?? Are you really backed into a corner with no options? Are you really powerless??
God has given each person a "measure of time" on this earth. He does not dictate our choices. He does not tell the farmer what to plant...the choice is his. We have power to make (plant) our own choices today.
What do you choose to do today...
to have that deeper relationship with God
to bond with your children
to create financial stability
to regain your health
to save a marriage
to fix that broken relationship
What do you choose today?
